Postulaciones > Call OPEN until March 26, 2026

The Fulbright Specialist Program (FSP) promotes collaboration and academic exchange between Chile and the United States. Its objective is for U.S. academics and researchers to undertake stays of 2 to 6 weeks in Chile to support the development and institutional strengthening of the host university or institution in the country.

Through this program, specialists exchange knowledge and establish partnerships that benefit participants, institutions, and communities in both the United States and Chile.

For the present call, the Commission has five available slots. Visits by U.S. academics and researchers may take place starting in June 2026 and must be completed by September 2027.

Proceso de Postulación

This program includes two application tracks. On the one hand, U.S. academics apply through the Roster to conduct research in their area of specialization abroad; on the other, a university or institution may apply to invite a specialist from a specific program for a defined period to carry out a project in Chile. For more information on the steps involved in each track, please refer to the program guidelines.

Actividades

Through this program, selected participants may undertake academic and research stays at Higher Education Institutions and Research Centers in Chile, where they will be able to apply their knowledge and experience across a range of activities.

U.S. academics will contribute their expertise while also learning from Chilean university practices, thereby strengthening links between institutions in Chile and the United States.

Áreas prioritarias

This call is open to all areas of the program. However, after it opens, certain specific areas may be prioritized, which will be announced in due course.

Financiamiento

The Program is jointly funded by the Fulbright Commission and the host institution.

Fulbright Commission contribution: Round-trip airfare; a daily stipend of USD 200 for the Fulbright Specialist; and health and accident insurance.

Contribution of the Chilean university or institution: The Chilean institution provides the suggested minimum amounts to cover the Fulbright Specialist Program participant’s accommodation and meals. The program may accept alternatives, such as lunch vouchers at the university or institutional cafeteria, or other services the institution deems appropriate for the visit.
